Der Erste Tag
THE FIRST DAY
In a national referendum in 1978 Austria abolished nuclear power, hence Austria's only nuclear power plant close to the village of Zwentendorf was never operated. To celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the outcome of the referendum ORF commissioned a TV movie about a fictions catastrophe in an nuclear power plant.
The film asks the question: What will happen, if it happens? A nuclear power plant reports a serious incident. All the crisis management groups react accordingly but are still confronted with a situation no exercise could prepare them for.
